How do we cope? What do I need to know? There is no question that COVID-19 has touched each of our lives in different ways and that we are all struggling to adapt to these changes while managing our day-to-day work and family responsibilities. Managers and frontline staff may be facing additional challenges and stressors related to their work or assignments. As manages, we need to ensure that we, as well as our workforce, are provided with the resources to support our (and their) mental health and well-being.

Our presenters will cover various resources available to County employees including the Employee Assistance Program, Life Assistance Program, and Headspace. Find out where you can get help on managing stress and emotions, dealing with grief and loss, and coping with job changes. Our expert from the Department of Mental Health will cover additional resources.

We will hear about the psychology of pandemics in the general population and a discussion on the two main predispositions of individuals, including personality and behavioral attributes: those who follow Public Health Messages and those who don’t. This is specially important as we begin to return to work – what to expect and how to deal with those who are not compliant with public health messages. Our Human Resources speaker will also address the psychological challenges associated with physical (social) isolation, monotony, under-stimulation, and apathy.

The County’s COVID-19 Testing Coordinator will also provide a summary of the County’s efforts on COVID-19, including testing capacity, prevention measures, and essential functions during pandemic mitigation.
