Dr. Bryce Yokomizo
"Informal Mentorship"
Dr. Bryce Yokomizo is a retired Los Angeles County employee and Management Council member with over 30 years of service. He admits that when he applied for an entry-level position with the Department of Public Social Services (DPSS), it was only meant to be a temporary stop until he could find a “real” job. Contrary to his initial feelings, he found that a career with Los Angeles County was a real job – one with both purpose and satisfaction. He credits the many County people he met along the way as the main reason for that rewarding career.
Bryce promoted through the management ranks and in 2002 was appointed Director of DPSS by the Board of Supervisors. He later became LA County Deputy CEO. After retirement, he joined the Public Administration faculty at Cal State Northridge, where he currently teaches Ethics and Professionalism, Seminar in Effective Public Sector Management, Organizational Leadership, and Strategic Management. Bryce is a graduate of UCLA, holds a Master of Public Administration degree from USC, and a Doctorate in Public Administration from California Baptist University.
Host:
Dr. Daniel Rojas, PHR
Administrative Services Manager
Executive Office of the Board of Supervisors
Dr. Daniel Rojas is currently assigned as the Administrative Services Manager II for the Executive Office of the Board of Supervisors, facilitating strategic planning, coordinating, and overseeing special projects. As a county employee, he has held a variety of assignments across County departments, including Public Social Services, Public Health, and Mental Health. He received his Master of Public Administration and Doctor of Public Administration degrees from California Baptist University in Riverside, CA. He holds a Professional in Human Resources certificate (PHR) and actively holds leadership and accounting certifications to enhance his abilities in future senior or executive-level positions. His passion for public service is only rivaled by his love for learning, family, and leadership. He is a proud husband, father, leader, friend, coach, mentor, ex-management fellow, and advisor.
