Amended Bylaws Now Available Link to Article
9/1/2020Dear LACMC Members:
The LACMC Executive Council directed the review and updating of our bylaws to provide a better governance structure for LACMC. The bylaws had not been significantly reviewed for many years. Many changes were made to comport with current best practices for membership organizations. As you will see, the bylaws provide more guidance on how LACMC should operate, providing more clarity regarding membership, actions/requirements of the executive council, responsibilities of officers, committees, and liability. The LACMC executive council believes these amendments are a positive move in strengthening and growing our organization. We hope you will agree, and vote in favor of these bylaw amendments when the vote is called.
Any questions may be directed to Marcia Mayeda, Director of Animal Care and Control at mmayeda@animalcare.lacounty.gov. Thank you for your continued membership in LACMC, and your service to the residents of Los Angeles County.
Spring Conference Postponed Link to Article
3/19/2020Management Council Members,
In response to the Board’s declaration of emergency concerning the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) as well as the state and federal mandates, the LACMC Executive Committee voted to postpone the LACMC Spring Conference 2020 on April 30 through May 1 in Indian Wells, CA.
Instead, we have rescheduled the Conference to Thursday, November 5 and Friday, November 6, 2020. The Hyatt Regency at Indian Wells Resort and Spa have been gracious to provide us with a first-choice date. For those who have already submitted registration, you will receive a refund.
We thank you for supporting the Management Council and look forward to seeing you at the 2020 Conference in November. Please stay tuned for subsequent communication coming your way regarding registration.
LACMC President,
Ruth A. Wong
Cancellation of Events in March Link to Article
3/17/2020MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Management Council Members,
An important priority for the County and the Management Council is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our workforce and the public we serve. Yesterday the Governor issued a statement that we postpone or cancel mass gatherings to slow the spread of COVID-19. As well, Directors Lisa Garrett and Barbara Ferrer co-authored a memo yesterday to department heads outlining measures for our workforce including social distancing. Since we all have a role to play in helping reduce the risk of this outbreak and slow down the spread of this infection, we are cancelling the annual Management Council breakfast with the Chair on Wednesday, March 18 at the Arboretum and the Project Management Educational Seminar on Thursday, March 19 at the Almansor Court. Members who have already registered for the Breakfast and the Seminar will receive a refund.
We thank you for your support and understanding of this situation.
LACMC President,
Ruth A. Wong
