Nicholas Ippolito

Nick Ippolito started his career in public service in 1992 as an eligibility worker with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS). 

Nick currently serves as an Assistant Director at DPSS.  His responsibilities as a senior executive include strategic planning, internal and external communications and legislative advocacy.  During his time at DPSS, he previously led the Bureau of Special Operations, consisting of 1,800 employees that administer a wide range of County services and programs, including In-Home Supportive Services.

From 2016-2020, Nick served as Chief of Staff for Supervisor Janice Hahn, advising the Supervisor and leading her staff on policy development in the areas of health, social services, homelessness, public safety, public infrastructure, transportation, constituent services, budgetary matters, and communications.   

From 2005 to 2016, he worked for Supervisor Don Knabe, first as his Social Services Deputy, then as Assistant Chief of Staff. This role involved advising the County Supervisor on policy matters involving human services, child welfare, including both foster care and juvenile justice, as well as education, aging issues, housing and homelessness, workforce development, child support, early childhood development (childcare and preschool) and the Safe Surrender program.  

Nick views his career as an ongoing journey of personal growth and professional development. After more than thirty years in public service, he remains committed to his mission to work for the benefit of Los Angeles County residents. 

Nick has a BFA from New York University, is a certified Yoga instructor, and is a fan of classic comedy and the LA Lakers. He has been a proud member of the Los Angeles County Management Council since 2002.
